This trip is to take you to the Eastern part of the country Uganda. You shall travel through the most industrialized city of Uganda, Jinja home to the source of the mighty Nile River where you shall have a chance to raft its waters, proceeding to Mbale home of the world’s largest mountain caldera, second highest mountain in East Africa and largest volcanic base, the Elgon Mountain. It shall be summed up with a visit to Pian Upe game reserve in Nakapiripirit district with several wildlife species and have a full day dedicated to cultural immersion activities with the Karamojong and kalejin cultures.

DAY 1:

After breakfast at the hotel, your driver guide shall at 7:30am pick you up to begin your safari. You shall travel East to Jinja via the Kampala-Jinja highway where en-route you shall visit the Ssezibwa falls in Mukono which hold great cultural value to the Buganda culture. This shall last for about an hour, and we shall proceed with our journey to Jinja with a healthy stop over at Namawojjolo for a taste of the muchomo (roasted chicken) there before we head to griffin falls camp in Mabira forest found in Buikwe district that is en-route to Jinja.

At griffin falls camp, we shall have zip lining, a nature walk in the biggest natural rainforest in East Africa and lunch with archery as an option for those not interested in zip lining. We shall continue with our journey to Jinja, where on arrival, we shall have an evening boat cruise on the Nile River, the longest in the world and also a glimpse of the explorer John Speke’s monument. After then, we shall check in, wait for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2:

Wake up early, and by 8:00am, your driver guide shall transfer to Butanda and Busowoko falls for scenic viewing. You shall then prepare for rafting and with quad biking as an option to those not interested in rafting. We shall have our packed lunch and continue with our water activities for the day. Brace yourself for sliding down a 20 meter long slide from great heights to the Nile waters, horse riding or even water tubing. We shall sum up the day, head to the hotel, refresh, and wait for diner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3:

Wake up early have breakfast at the hotel, from where your driver guide shall transfer you to the Basoga community for cultural immersion activities. A whole day has been dedicated to studying the Busoga culture, having homestead visits and lunch that has been prepared locally with us taking part in its preparation. After a long day, we shall head back to our hotels, refresh, and wait for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 4:

Wake up early, refresh, have breakfast and meet with your driver guide. He shall transfer you to Mbale town via Busitema forest from where you shall spot lots of baboons in a less crowded location. Continuing with our journey, we shall pass by the Tororo rock, a signature feature of Tororo town elevating up to 1480 meters above sea level. To the hikers, if up to the challenge this giant volcanic rock structure is climbable in hour depending on one’s agility. We shall lunch from a suitable spot and continue with our journey taking us to Mbale cultural museum holding significant regalia and cultural history of Mbale town’s early descendants. We shall after this proceed to our hotels for dinner, relaxation, refreshment and an overnight stay.

DAY 5:

Wake up early, have breakfast and by 6:00am, you must be ready to connect with your driver guide who shall transfer you to mountain Elgon national park, home to the world’s largest volcanic base. In the park, you shall have a nature walk through the mountainous gorges of the park while spotting various wild life species especially different types of monkeys such as the blue monkey and the black and white Columbus monkeys. The walk shall take you to Wanale hill impressive caves, deep valleys, escarpments and a few water lined cliffs. You shall do the hiking; we have lunch (packed) and continue to the Bamasaba community commonly known for their Imbalu practice for cultural immersion activities for the rest of the evening. When done we shall head back to our hotels, have dinner, refresh and relax for the night.

DAY 6:

Have breakfast at the hotel and by 8:00am you shall be transferred by your driver guide to Sipi falls in Kapchwora district for abseiling, scenic viewing and cultural immersion activities with the Sabiny people from where we shall have our lunch. You shall hike the Sipi falls and view all the three falls that make up this natural wonder. With the Sabiny people, you shall do homestead visits and assist in preparing lunch which we are to have. Later in the evening, we shall check in our hotels, relax wait for dinner and relax for the night.

DAY 7:

Your day shall begin with a breakfast at the hotel as early as 7:30am, after which your driver guide is to transfer you to Pian Upe game reserve where we shall have a game drive in the plains of the reserve spotting several wildlife species, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, not forgetting the ostrich. You shall also do cave exploration on ancient rock paintings that are found in Napendio cave. We shall once again have lunch from the bush, and head to mountains Napak and Kadam for hiking after which we shall head back to the hotel for refreshment, dinner and relax for the night.

DAY 8:

This day shall begin with breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will pick you up from there and transfer you to the local community. Pian Upe is surrounded by the Karamojong and Kalejin communities. These cultures are so rich and diverse that a full day was dedicated to interacting with them. You shall help prepare lunch with them, have a chance to visit their homesteads and lots of entertainment in form of music, dance and drama. We shall feast on the lunch that you helped to prepare and in the evening head back to our hotels for dinner, refreshment, and relax for the night.

DAY 9:

The last day of our safari shall begin with a breakfast at the hotel, after which we shall checkout, and travel back to Kampala.
