This trip is to take you through Uganda’s significant and most visited historical monuments and also take you through her religious and political history. You are to visit different martyrdom sites around Kampala before you are taken to one of the largest Christian Pilgrimage Destinations in Africa. You shall have time to do shopping in downtown Kampala or in any other suitable spot with your guide’s guidance.

Day 1

Pick up from bus and transfer to hotel, check in, refresh and have dinner. Those who wish can go out for Kampala night life, at a cost.

Day 2:

Independence monument – Muteesa II monument – Constitutional Square – World war monument – Martyrs trail (St. Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe – St. Athanasius Bazzekuketta – St. Matiya Mulumba) – Royal mile – Kabaka’s palace – Kabaka’s lake

Day 3:

Namugongo martyrs shrine – Drive to Nairobi

Travel Plan:

Day 1: Pick up from bus and Transfer to Hotel

You shall meet with your Guide and transfer to the Hotel for Refreshment, dinner and Overnight stay

Those that wish to may have a feel of Kampala’s vibrant night life with the help and guidance of your guide.

Day 2: Kampala city tour

After breakfast, you shall head out with your driver guide for your trip. It shall begin with a visit to the Independence Monument, located at Nile Avenue. It was built as a symbol of independent Uganda.

Within walking distance from the independence monument, lies the Muteesa II monument. It was built in memory of Sir. Edward Muteesa II who was the 35th Kabaka of Buganda kingdom and first president of Independent Uganda.

You shall have a foot stroll on the streets of Kampala taking you to the Constitutional Square, where you shall get to see the World war Monument, The oldest in Kampala. It was built to commemorate the Ugandan soldiers that took part in the World War II

From the constitutional square, you shall on foot walk to Nakasero Market which Is the spot for fresh fruits and vegetables within Kampala, you shall have time to do some shopping and then: you shall head to downtown Kampala in Nakivubo in your vehicle, where you shall visit the martyrdom place for St. Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe and St. Athanasius Bazzekuketta who was the fifth Martyr. It is believed that he (Balikuddembe) Baptized Kabaka Muteesa II, and was killed for trying to plead with Kabaka Mwanga II to spare the life of Bishop Hannington.

From Nakivubo, you shall head to Old Kampala, where you will find the Martyrdom site of St. Matiya Mulumba, who was a roman catholic by Faith and suffered one of the harshest killings.

You shall then have lunch at either 2k restaurant or at Baguma’s Restaurant for local Ugandan cuisine.

After your lunch, you shall head to Mengo a suburb in Kampala city for a visit to the Palace of the King (Kabaka) of Buganda kingdom.

You shall first walk the royal mile, as you are taught about the 52 Clans of Buganda to the Palace. You shall have a tour of His Highness’ home after which you shall head to His (Kabaka’s) lake found in Ndeeba. It is the largest Manmade Lake in Uganda built under the instructions of Kabaka Mwanga II. From the lake you will head back to your accommodations for dinner, refreshment and an overnight stay.

You may vibe to Kampala’s night life at personal expense with your guide’s assistance.

Day 3: Namugongo martyrs shrine – Nairobi

After your Breakfast, you shall head to one of the largest Christian Pilgrimage Destinations in Africa, Found in Namugongo 15km by Road from the city center. It is the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine which was built and Dedicated to the 22 martyrs that were killed between 1884 – 1887 on orders of the then Kabaka of Buganda Mwanga II

You shall pass by the newly built Akamwesi Mall that is a 3000m2 establishment with modern day shopping options that offers the greatest shopping experience for buyers within Kampala. But it’s big, always listen to your driver guide.

You shall then continue you journey to Namugongo Martyrs shrine: this place holds significant importance to the Christian faith and is flocked with pilgrims from world over every 3rd of June who pray to martyrs and also get to take home Water from the lake which is considered holy, cures diseases and also a blessing.

From the shrine you shall drive to Nairobi
